This venue

Negative findings, reproductions, resources, and position papers are in scope—readers expect reproducible experiments and clear evaluation.

arXiv is allowed, but the ARR PDF must stay anonymous. Length, tracks, and supplements follow that year’s EMNLP CFP—do not copy another ACL year’s numbers.

Length

Same as *ACL: long 8 / short 4, unlimited references, +1 page if accepted. Limitations required and uncounted. Missing it or going over length is a reject.

Review

Double-blind, same as ACL. Follow ACL publication ethics and the ARR responsible-NLP checklist.

Typesetting

Use the official *ACL/EMNLP two-column template. Appendices may sit in the PDF, but the review draft should stand alone—do not hide key experiments only in the appendix.

Before you write

  • Official EMNLP/ARR template, not another conference.
  • Long vs short chosen on purpose.
  • Limitations section present.
  • EMNLP commit deadline noted.

Official pages

Summarized from public calls (as of 2026-09). Always match the CFP you are submitting to.

FAQ

EMNLP vs ACL?
Empirical NLP, resources, and benchmarks fit EMNLP; both often use ARR.
Can I submit negative results?
Yes—explain the design and failure modes, not just “no gain”.
Missed the commit deadline?
Wait for the next ARR cycle or EMNLP edition—late commits are not accepted.
